I'm an avid cyclist, and I got tired of bonking on longer rides. A route would look fine on paper -- some miles, some climbing -- and then fall apart around mile 60. Sometimes it was a headwind I hadn't planned for. Sometimes I just ran out of fuel because my nutrition plan didn't match how hard the ride actually turned out to be.
The distance and elevation numbers were never really the problem. What I needed was a way to turn those numbers into an actual plan before I left the house: how long the ride would take at the power I could hold, how much wind and heat to expect, and how much I should be eating and drinking to make it to the finish.
That's what Ride Planner does. Paste in a route and your rider profile, and it simulates the ride against the real terrain and weather forecast -- not a flat average speed -- to give you a time estimate, wind and heat exposure, and fueling targets for that specific route on that specific day. The guides section covers how each part works in more detail.
This is a side project, not a company. I built it to fix my own problem, and I'm putting it out there because I doubt I'm the only one who's bonked on a ride they thought they were ready for. If it's useful, or something's broken, let me know.
